Tree Treasure No. 5: Where Our First Cruise Began

This style of ornament is one of Dave’s favorites. He loves the metal die cut ornaments and we have gathered quite a collection of them over the years. They always stand out on the tree with their pretty shine and the way the lights catch them.
This one is from Catalina Island. I have lived in California my entire life and somehow I had only been there once, which makes this ornament even more special. It was mine and Dave’s very first cruise, just the two of us.
One look at this little piece of Catalina takes me right back to walking along the water, exploring the shops, and soaking in that peaceful island feeling. It is simple but it holds such a sweet memory of our first getaway on the ocean together.
It is amazing how an ornament can bring the sound of the waves and the feeling of sunshine right back to your heart.
Do you have any ornaments on your tree from a special place?
If you enjoy nostalgic holiday stories, I’m also sharing my Christmas memories in a new series called Christmas Stories Throughout the Years.
