Tree Treasure No. 10: When Disney Filled Our Home

Belle and Beast. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast clay Christmas ornament.

It’s wild to think these precious clay ornaments are thirty three years old. 🤯 I picked them up at a local craft fair in 1992 when my daughter was six and my son was two. Beauty and the Beast was their world at that time, and honestly it was mine too. It has always been my favorite Disney animation.

These little Belle and Beast pieces are part of our Christmas story. Every year when I see them on our tree they take me right back to those sweet early years of motherhood when the kids were small and our days were filled with Disney songs and bedtime stories. (Anyone else still hear the Disney sing-along’s playing in their memory? 😂)

I still stop and stare at them every December. They remind me why our trees go up early. There is so much joy in decorating with memories from my children’s childhood. And every time we go to a Disney park and Beauty and the Beast is on stage it is still a must for me. The music. The story. The nostalgia. All of it.

Do you have an ornament on your tree that instantly takes you back to your kids being little?

If you enjoy nostalgic holiday stories, I’m also sharing my Christmas memories in a new series called Christmas Stories Throughout the Years.
