I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we talk about aging.
Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught to expect less. Less energy. More stiffness. More “this is just how it is now.”
But here’s what I’ve learned; both personally and from walking alongside so many women:
Aging isn’t one fixed path.
It’s shaped by the small choices we make over time.
Not extreme choices. Not perfect ones. Just intentional ones.
The “old way” feels familiar
Slowing down. Low energy. Stiff joints. The quiet acceptance of “I guess this is it”. The expectation of aging from watching our grandmothers.
And no judgment here. I’ve been there. Some seasons call for rest. Some call for survival mode. But staying there forever? That’s optional.
The “new way” isn’t about punishment
It’s not about chasing youth or pushing your body to exhaustion.
It’s about:
- Feeling stronger in your body
- Having more energy for the life you want to live
- Moving with confidence instead of caution
- Taking care of yourself on purpose
- Being able to play with the grandkids on the floor
- Getting off the toilet without assistance
Not because you “should.” But because you’re worth it.
Here’s what choosing the new way can actually look like

Nothing fancy. Just me choosing to take care of myself; one workout at a time.
No whistles. No stopwatches. Just real life.
1. Move your body regularly but kindly. Not every workout needs to be intense.
Walking counts. Strength training counts. Stretching counts.
Consistency matters more than intensity.
2. Support your energy, not just push through. Living on caffeine and willpower catches up eventually. And motivation is fleeting. Building habits, builds a lifestyle.
Hydration, nourishment and supporting your body at the root level make a difference you can actually feel.
3. Take joint stiffness as information, not a life sentence. Aches are often your body asking for support; movement, minerals, rest, or better recovery and not an excuse to give up.
4. Stop waiting for “someday”. Someday is quiet and sneaky. It convinces us there’s time later.
The truth? Small shifts today create a very different future. One habit at a time.
5. Choose progress that fits your season. This isn’t about doing what everyone else is doing.
It’s about doing what you can sustain; because sustainable always wins. Consistency wins!
This isn’t about perfection
It’s about direction.
You don’t need to overhaul your life. You don’t need to do everything at once. You don’t need to do it alone.
But you do get to decide how you want to feel moving forward.
And that choice made again and again is powerful.
