One Second a Day — A Decade of Life, Saved

I’ve quietly kept one of my favorite traditions alive for over a decade using an app called 1 Second Everyday or 1SE if you’re familiar with it.

Here’s how it works: each day, you add a one second snippet; either a short video clip or a single photo. The free version allows one moment per day, which is exactly what I’ve always used. One second sounds small… but it’s surprisingly powerful.

At the end of every month, I download a 30-second video that captures our life as it really was. I look forward to the video every month.

Some days are milestones; birthdays, trips, celebrations. Most days are the quiet, ordinary moments that would otherwise disappear. And somehow, those end up being my favorites.

At the end of the year, you can download the entire year into one video. Watching it feels like flipping through time; proof that even the simple days mattered.

I love that these videos can be shared directly from the app, but what I treasure most is having a living archive of our life; captured without pressure, perfection or performance.

As we head into 2026, I’m inviting you to join me. Just one second a day. No rules. No catching up. Just noticing your life as it’s happening.

I’m sharing December’s 30-second snippet alongside this post because it’s the best way I know to show why this tradition has stayed with me for so long.

One second. Every day.

It adds up more than you think.

If you’re curious, the app I’ve used for years is 1 Second Everyday.

I’ll link it here simply to make it easy—no pressure at all to start perfectly. One second is enough.
