Cinnamon Oranges: A Sweet Little Snack I’ve Loved for Years

Some of the best food ideas don’t come from cookbooks or social media. They come from family.

Years ago, my cousin Joann showed me something so simple I almost laughed. She peeled an orange, sprinkled a little cinnamon on it, and said, “Try this.” I did and I have been hooked ever since.

No sugar. No fuss. Just fresh oranges and a dusting of cinnamon. It tasted like dessert but felt light and fresh, not heavy or overly sweet. And here we are, all these years later, and it’s still one of my favorite little treats.

Cinnamon Oranges Do A Body Good

This combo isn’t just tasty. It’s one of those old-fashioned pairings that quietly supports your body too.

Oranges are rich in vitamin C, which supports immune health and skin.

They’re full of water and fiber, which helps with hydration and digestion.

They naturally satisfy a sweet craving without sending blood sugar on a roller coaster.

Cinnamon helps stabilize blood sugar which can reduce sugar cravings later.

It supports digestion and helps prevent that bloated, heavy feeling after eating.

It has anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

And let’s be honest, it makes everything taste like dessert without adding sugar.

Put them together and you get something that feels like a treat but acts like a little wellness ritual.

How I Make Them

There really is no recipe. This is as old-school and easy as it gets.

Peel an orange and separate it into slices.

Place them in a bowl.

Sprinkle cinnamon over the top.

That’s it.

Some days I go light. Some days I go heavy because I love cinnamon. You really can’t mess this up.

When I love to eat this

This is one of my favorite lunch sides. Makes a perfect afternoon snack when I want something sweet but don’t want to feel sluggish afterward. It’s also perfect after dinner when you just want a little something but not a full-on dessert.

It feels comforting and fresh at the same time, which is kind of magical.

A little reminder from my kitchen to yours

I love snacks like this because they remind me that feeling good doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s just an orange, a sprinkle of spice, and a few quiet minutes to enjoy it.
