Christmas Stories Throughout The Years | The Year Our Christmas Tree Fell Over
I treasure every ornament on our Christmas tree. Each one holds a memory, a moment, or a little piece of our story. But for years something always bothered me… I could never see the ornaments on the back of the tree. And yes, I absolutely overloaded the front because those were the ones we could actually enjoy.
Then I discovered the magic solution. A rotating Christmas tree stand.
Suddenly, the whole tree came to life. Every ornament had its moment. No more hiding sentimental pieces. No more unbalanced decorating. And the best part? It didn’t cost a fortune.
That stand was wonderful.
Until the year it wasn’t.
Every Christmas, after I finished decorating, Dave would carefully push the tree back toward the window — slowly, gently, the same way he had done for years.
But in 2022… that plastic stand finally gave out.
The entire, fully decorated tree tipped backwards and crashed into the cabinets behind it. It missed the window by inches.
I will never forget that sound. My heart absolutely dropped.

We braced ourselves… but somehow, only two ornaments broke.
I took one look at that snapped plastic stand and immediately ordered a metal rotating tree stand. No hesitation. Christmas triage moment.
Here’s the unbelievable part:
You’d think we had to undecorate everything, lift the bare tree into the new stand and redecorate from scratch.
Nope.
Dave and I managed to lift the entire tree — fully decorated — and place it right into the new stand. I STILL don’t know how we pulled it off.
And that is why 2022 will always be remembered as “the year the tree fell over.”
Now, every time our tree slowly rotates, shining with every ornament in full view, I smile a little bigger. Because even the chaotic moments become part of the story… the kind we tell for years and laugh about every time.
