Tree Treasure No. 6: Where Our Family Magic Began

These three ornaments always get a special spot on our tree. They remind me of a season of life that still feels magical every time I think about it. Disneyland was our favorite family vacation destination for more than thirty years. The kids grew up there. Dave and I made so many memories there. It is just one of those places that has woven itself into our family story.

In the early 2000s, each of us picked out our own big Mickey head ornament. It would probably surprise most people to know that our twenty year old son chose the elegant white one. Mine is the red one. Dave’s is the blue one. My daughter still has hers and hangs it on her own tree every year.

This little set is always one of the first things I put on the tree. They make me feel happy and familiar and full of the years we spent walking down Main Street together. Every time I see them, I feel all the fun and laughter that Disneyland gave our family.
Some ornaments bring joy. Some bring memories. These bring both.
